Proteon - KNMP Pharmacy Project

KNMP (Koninklijke Nederlandse Maatschappij ter bevordering der Pharmacie), or the Royal Dutch Pharmaceutical Society, is an association for and by pharmacists. Its objectives are to promote good facilities for the provision of medication, practising pharmacy as a science and representing the professional, social and economic interests of the society’s members.

Pharmacists in the Netherlands have to re-register to practise their trade every five years. To be able to register, the pharmacists have to complete various activities, e.g. make speeches, write articles and complete courses. The essence of this custom is to continuously grow the knowledge base of pharmacists and keep them involved in the industry.

Upfront Systems built a portal using Plone where pharmacists can record their activities and where the activities are evaluated. At the end of the five-year period the pharmacists can consult the portal to find out whether they have obtained sufficient scores to re-register.
