5FM

5FM is a Contemporary Hit Radio station that delivers music, presenter-driven entertainment, news and sport suited to youth and young adult audiences in the metropolitan areas of South Africa. The station's website was due for a revamp and Praekelt Consulting engaged Hello Computer (design) and Upfront Systems (application) to do the job. Praekelt Consulting did some of the integration work themselves.

The open source product, BroadcastCMS, developed in Plone, was used as the basis for the site. The huge volume of users (more than 270 000) and complexities stemming from moving legacy data into the new site, provided some stiff challenges. A lot was learnt regarding optimising Plone for really high traffic, with this project!
